Accountancy profs win best paper award
Brad Badertscher, Jeff Burks, and Peter Easton from Mendoza College have earned the prestigious AAA Financial Accounting and Reporting Section Best Paper Award for 2013 for their research on fair-value accounting. Their paper, "A Convenient Scapegoat," challenges the belief that fair-value accounting exacerbated the financial crisis, suggesting instead that it was unfairly blamed by some in the banking sector seeking to ease regulatory restrictions. The award recognizes innovative research that connects academic findings with practical applications in the field of accounting.
