Business and the Common Good Minor

How does a career in business foster personal fulfillment and promote the common good?

How do political, economic, and corporate structures shape the aims and methods of business to serve the common good?

The Minor in Business and the Common Good, offered by the Business Ethics and Society Program (BESP), explores pivotal questions at the intersection of business, society, and spirituality.

Together with an interdisciplinary team of faculty, you will explore business and professional life with an intellectual depth that extends beyond core requirements, integrating theological and philosophical perspectives.

Inspired by the principles of Catholic Social Thought, this minor aligns with Mendoza’s vision and emphasizes the essential role an outstanding business school plays within a Catholic university.

A low-angle view looking up at vertical fabric banners suspended inside a modern, sunlit atrium with floor-to-ceiling multi-pane windows. Sunlight flares brightly behind a prominent gold banner reading "GROW THE GOOD IN BUSINESS™" alongside typography listing various business disciplines. To its left hangs a blue banner displaying white lettering focused on institutional values with the word "COOPERATE" highlighted. Wooden ceiling panels and structural beams frame the upper left of the image.

The most valuable takeaway from the Business and the Common Good Minor is the power of listening to understand. In today’s polarizing society, the ability to listen to others and respectfully disagree is a valuable skill, allowing us to overcome our differences.
