Flying CEOs

A recent study finds that corporate executives with pilot licenses exhibit distinct management styles that can lead to higher profits for their companies. Researchers Matthew Cain and Stephen McKeon analyzed the behaviors of 179 CEO pilots and over 2,900 non-pilot CEOs, revealing that pilot-led firms tend to adopt more aggressive policies, such as increased leverage and a higher likelihood of acquisitions. Their findings suggest that the calculated risk-taking associated with flying may translate into more successful business decisions, benefiting shareholders.
