One MSF Student's Global Journey to Mendoza

I'm Mercedes, a Master of Science in Finance (MSF) student with roots in both Argentina and Italy. I was born in Buenos Aires and spent six years in Lima, Peru, and two years in Padua, Italy. While I initially pursued economics as my major in my undergraduate studies at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella, my true passion lay in finance. This realization led me to the University of Notre Dame, where I aspired for more than just academic excellence; I wanted to become part of the Notre Dame community and uphold its values. 

My journey at Notre Dame began in June, and I've had the opportunity to meet people from around the world, both within my cohort and among other graduate business students. As I've learned about their diverse cultures and ways of life, what has surprised me the most about Notre Dame is the significance of American Football in campus life. It's a unique and unifying tradition that brings students and faculty together in support of the Fighting Irish. 

Another element of my experience that I’ve found intriguing is the Notre Dame network. From day one, I've actively engaged in Notre Dame's career networking opportunities, building professional and personal relationships. The Mendoza College of Business offers various extracurricular activities that allow me to learn from experienced professionals and gain insights beyond my coursework, helping me shape my career goals. 

One of the things I look forward to is my first snowfall as winter approaches. The idea of a snow-covered Notre Dame campus adds an extra layer of enchantment to this already special place. However, I must admit that I'm still figuring out how to handle the cold! 

My journey as a Master of Science in Finance student at Notre Dame has been a mix of global friendships, academic growth, and exciting new experiences. I'm thankful for the warm welcome and sense of community here, and I'm excited to see where this Notre Dame adventure will lead me next.
