A recent study reveals that enhancing e-government systems can significantly curb corruption. Sarv Devaraj, a professor at Notre Dame's Mendoza College of Business and a native of Bangalore, reflects on his personal experiences with bribery in India, illustrating how technology can transform bureaucratic processes. By analyzing data from 63 countries, Devaraj and his co-authors found a clear link between transparent e-government practices and lower levels of corruption, showing that more sophisticated digital governance can lead to fairer systems for citizens.
