MSDM Experiential Learning

A close-up shot of two women seated on a light-colored couch working collaboratively. On the left, a blonde woman wearing a light grey t-shirt and blue jeans looks down attentively at a document resting on the couch armrest. On the right, a woman in a dark blue t-shirt smiles as she points toward the document, holding a yellow sticky note. A patterned leather tote bag sits behind them on the sofa, while a bright, softly blurred city landscape is visible through the window behind them.

Put Digital Marketing Into Practice

Experiential learning is woven throughout the Notre Dame MSDM experience. Through hands-on projects, employer engagement and opportunities to work directly with real companies, you’ll put digital marketing theory into practice while developing the strategic, analytical and communication skills to make an impact in your career.

Experiential Learning Options

A group of approximately fifteen students stands smiling in front of a large, blue neon sign spelling "CHICAGO" inside a LinkedIn office. On the far right, a man in a bright yellow jacket stands next to a colleague in a brown jacket and maroon pants. To their left, a diverse group of male and female students dressed in business casual attire—including blazers, coats, and slacks—pose together, with a small LinkedIn logo visible on the dark blue metal display framework above them.

Applied Digital Marketing

Work with a real business client throughout the spring to design, launch and manage a live digital marketing campaign. As part of a team, you’ll move from strategy and creative development to execution and performance measurement, gaining firsthand experience using digital marketing to address an organization’s real business needs.

Two young men sit at a long wooden conference table during a group study session in a brightly lit room with floor-to-ceiling glass windows. On the left, a student in a purple sweater gestures while speaking; beside him, a classmate in a grey Notre Dame quarter-zip jacket smiles in response. Laptops with gold Notre Dame "ND" decals rest on the table, including one in the foreground showing "BizStarts" on its screen. An over-the-shoulder view of another group member frames the foreground.

    Grow Irish

Midway through your Applied Digital Marketing project, you’ll meet with clients in person over the course of a week to present initial findings, receive direct feedback and refine your approach. The experience also provides opportunities for industry engagement and professional networking while strengthening your ability to communicate with clients in a professional setting.
