How do I request a test waiver?
Candidates may request a test waiver by completing our test waiver request form or within the MBA application. You will be asked to upload your transcript and resume, along with a short statement explaining the request (no more than 150 words).
Non-U.S. citizens (and U.S. citizens with extensive international study) should also upload an English proficiency test score.
Once your test waiver is submitted, your request will be evaluated by our Admission Committee, and you will receive a decision within 10 business days.
Who should consider applying without a test score?
Each candidate should decide whether to request a waiver based on their particular circumstances. Note that test scores do provide an additional data point in determining academic readiness and quantitative ability. In some cases, providing a test score can enhance a candidate’s profile, where elements of academic readiness are less definitive.
In the event you are approved for the test waiver, we have placed more weight on other factors, such as undergraduate GPA, course rigor, and career experience. Requesting a waiver does not hinder your chance for admission.
If I’m granted a waiver, would my previously submitted test score be removed from my application or kept on file?
Your test scores will remain in your file. If your request for a test waiver is approved, your prior scores will not be included in the evaluation of your application.
Will it hurt my chances of admission if I don’t submit a GMAT or GRE score?
No. We have always taken a holistic approach to assessing a candidate’s ability to succeed in the program, considering factors such as resilience, self-awareness, intellectual curiosity, leadership, and alignment with Mendoza’s larger mission. While standardized test scores are just one factor in this assessment, we also evaluate academic readiness based on undergraduate coursework and career experience as part of our holistic review.
Will I still be eligible for scholarship if I waive the test?
Yes, candidates who receive a test waiver are still eligible for scholarships.
The Meyer Fellowship selects recipients based on several factors, including academic performance, prior work experience, demonstrated leadership, and commitment to Notre Dame's mission.
Please note that the Meyer Fellowship is available only to MBA candidates with a GMAT score. GRE scores are not accepted.
Is being denied a test waiver an indication that I might not be admitted when I apply?
No. Requesting a test waiver is an opportunity for the admissions team to assess your academic readiness for the rigor of the program.
If you are denied a test waiver, the admissions committee may request additional information (e.g., test score, quantitative coursework, etc.).v
Is this a permanent change to the MBA admissions policy?
We evaluate our test policies each cycle.
